Continental Mapping is a surveying & mapping expert providing a wide range of geospatial products and services to government and the private sector since 1999. Our project examples include millions of square miles of mapping via satellite, 1000s of miles of roadway via mobile lidar, massive boundary surveys, high accuracy mapping via survey-grade mobile lidar, aerial imagery, lidar, and UAS as well as software for the geospatial industry. Throughout it all, a focus on customer service and quality deliverables.
A utility client on the east coast of the United States asked Continental Mapping to perform a proof on concept to assess the value of mobile lidar and high resolution imagery to inventory assets in the field. The client needed to update its GIS database for asset inventory and regulatory reasons.
The I-35/Highway 53 interchange in Duluth, MN (known locally as the "Can of Worms") is one of the busiest in the region with over 72,200 vehicles/day and intense congestion given the volume of traffic from commuters and the shipping activities of the Duluth Port Terminal. This project was the survey-grade mapping needed to begin the process of a $240M re-design and construction project.
This award winning project brought survey-grade mobile lidar to a highly travelled section of I35W in northeast Minneapolis from Dinkytown to Cleveland Ave (Rosedale Center). The technology was needed to safely and quickly collect high accuracy surface information and bridge clearances for pending roadway resurfacing.
