Low lying and delicate wetlands persist throughout much of southeastern Arkansas, yet drain tiles and clear cutting has greatly impacted the ecology of these areas making them very susceptible to drought.
A 2014 pavement improvement study by the Indiana Department of Transportation identified a nearly 5 mile stretch of I-469 southeast of Fort Wayne, IN as being in serious disrepair.
The value of being an officially designated Interstate is significant. Primarily due to the greater allocation of transportation funds, which in turn permits more favorable assignment of asset and service resources such as guard rails and snow plows. Proximity to an interstate highway can also lure large employers who prefer interstate access.
I-694 is an auxiliary beltway that allows I-94 traffic to flow north around the Twin Cities. As a main route for commuters in the northern suburbs, it sees a large amount of freight traffic, making it a priority corridor. The infrastructure is complicated by densely packed communities. The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) I-694 re-design project was developed to create an asset management plan to track the condition and performance of roadways and bridge along this beltway.
North Dakota has seen a lot of industrial growth in the last decade, putting a strain on existing infrastructure. Continental Mapping was contracted to provide aerial lidar derived mapping of a 16.2-mile section of Route 27 in order to improve the existing roadway surface, making it able to withstand a barrage of heavy truck traffic and improve the route’s overall safety.
