2018 has been a record year for Continental Mapping. Continued growth exists in key metrics for each sector of operation – Defense & Intelligence, Transportation & Infrastructure, and Civil Works. Major successes include new master contracts, innovative technologies, inventive process improvements, and the opening of a new office in Austin, Texas. These successes continue to build upon 18 years of previous achievements.

Continental Mapping is currently performing mapping projects on 4 continents and our mobile lidar, survey, and field crews are deploying innovative technologies on a vast array of projects. To support these projects, Continental Mapping has added 37 employees thus far in 2018, in roles from entry-level to senior management.

Though much talent has been brought on board already, nearly 20 open positions still remain to be filled. Continental Mapping has performed mapping in 115 countries and counting, and is excited to continue its growth as a leader in geospatial solutions. Please see a list of available positions here.

(Sun Prairie, WI)—April, 2018— The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), in an effort to provide support to transportation infrastructure projects, has awarded Continental Mapping a master contract for mapping services. With this opportunity, ODOT districts will be able to utilize Continental Mapping’s advanced technologies, as a complement to the ODOT’s Office of CADD and Mapping Services’ capabilities.

“Continental Mapping is honored to be selected to support ODOT’s mapping needs. We look forward to using our experience, innovative technologies and processes to help ODOT, and the people and businesses of Ohio.” -Craig Gooding, Senior Account Manager – Transportation & Infrastructure

Continental Mapping has successfully provided similar master contract services for Departments of Transportation throughout the country, though this master contract is the first of its kind between ODOT and Continental Mapping. Experienced technical staff and management ensure routine delivery of quality data and reliable services. Through this venture, Continental Mapping will be able to provide the same high quality and scope of services to ODOT, as they have for others.

Continental Mapping was pleased to host a visit to our company headquarters this week by US Congressman Mark Pocan.  Rep. Pocan and the Mayor of Sun Praire (Paul Esser) had an opportunity to see our company in action.  Numerous technologies and projects were demonstrated including:

  1. 3D stereo-imagery and high accuracy mapping of transportation corridors for Departments of Transportation including WisDOT and I-41
  2. Mobile lidar data colleciton and mapping in support of telecommunications, utilities and transportation corridor asset management
  3. UAS data collection and mapping
  4. Aerial lidar for cultural resource preservation and environmental management
  5. Field survey

Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) proactively identified the need for a comprehensive inventory of barrier end treatments and associated guardrails on state owned highways.  To meet this need, MnDOT awarded a contract to Continental Mapping to complete this statewide inventory.  The Barrier End Treatment Inventory and Assessment (BETIA) project will utilize mobile lidar to collect data on the assets of interest followed by field assessment to ascertain a variety of characteristics on each barrier end treatment.

“We are excited to expand our relationship with MnDOT to include this statewide project. By the end of 2017, MnDOT will have a comprehensive barrier end treatment inventory that will lead to increased public safety while reducing future maintenance costs.” - Tim Caya, General Manager – Transportation & Infrastructure

In addition to barrier end treatments and guardrails, Continental Mapping will leverage the comprehensive point cloud and street level imagery collected throughout the state to map additional assets.
